The media hype

over the Iphone was/is justified as apple seem to have delivered a very good product. Am just gonna mention a couple of things i noticed when I played around with one last evening at the 5th Ave store. It worked just as well as the advertisements promised,so that encompasses all the +ves.

A couple of things apple could have done better.

i) two handed use of the touchpad to email/message is difficult. apple claims heuristics will improve performance.

ii) For some weird reason there’s no auto-recognition of a 10 digit phone number and a prompt to call ,when its part of an email text or message.

A very, very good product nevertheless. goodies are described in detail here.

p.s there were more media and camera then the number of people in line at the 5th ave store at 6 pm.
last i heard they still had both 4 and 8 gb models at 9 pm. go figure !.

update: i totally forgot to mention the sick adapter thats required to use third party headphones with the IPHONE. When i asked an apple store employee about the headphone jack, he indicated it might be a faulty product and was not aware of the fact that it needed an adapter. engadget has a list of headphones that do work, and apple better get its iphone to work with the grados !.

  1. with root/alpine and mobile/dotty you probably could do much more than what is in store. but its a shame that apple has a 5yr contract with singular. but and then yeah, they probably might come out with a iPhone nano or sumthin like that ;)

but seriously, the iPhone is a good toy that i wud prolly buy if they launch it in this side of the globe, but and then id trust N with the radio and air interface ;)
