Well my hunch was proved right(like duh!!…). A version of Sketch up is now avaiable as a free download for personal use. I had posted a month earlier about this possibility
I think i am gonna learn to use sketchup properly this summer. Lets see what transpires ..
I would not consider myself a voracious reader as of yet, but ive realised that i can use my transit time in the subway to do more than prepare for class that day or listen to my IPOD.
The last novel i read was this book called ‘Gray Matter’ by Gary Braver. It is a stunning, thought provoking thriller about human intelligence.. I recommend this book if you like intense, breakneck-speed medical thrillers. If you are familiar with this guy’s work, i’d like to know what you think.
His latest work ‘Flashback‘ should be out on paperback soon(if not already) and is supposed to be his best work yet. I think ill get myself a copy judging by rave reviews its received.
Mike Portnoy, the best progressive rock drummer currently and one of the top 5 rock drummers of all time, has this to say about their show at Radio City Music Hall.

First of all, if you are not familiar with the music of Dream Theater please do go get yourself a copy of one of their albums. If you are ‘old school’, i recommend Awake or Images and Words.
If you are ‘hardcore’ i recommend Octavarium and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.
Their genre of music-school progressive rock is not particularly popular among the common masses but if you are hooked you are hooked for life.
I attended Dream Theater’s 20th anniversary concert at Radio City music hall last night. They put on a fantastic performance and did not their fans down. In fact i was so inspired that i ended up buying a whole load of dream theater memorabilia from their stalls on the way out.
They played for three and a quarter hours!! It was a great live act with relevant visuals taking their fans back on a journey in time running on a large screen behing the stage, (a funny animation video being the pick of them all) and a brilliant stage performance by the artists. There was a bizarre section in the middle when they kept replaying the video of the ‘Twin Towers’ collapsing and all the chaos that ensued for about ten minutes before their song ‘Sacrificed sons’ from ‘Octavarium’. I think when you play in New York alluding to 9/11 is a must.
They have an interesting history with 9/11. In fact one of their albums was released on 9/11. The album cover artwork consisted of the twin towers burning in flames. In an unfortunate coincidence, the twin towers fell on the same day and the band had to call off the release. Few copies did get out though and they remain collector’s items.Check out the pic here. Notice the centre of the image on the right with the twin towers in the centre. Talk of premonition!!.
This show was filmed for a DVD release. Dream Theater’s first ever show with a live orchestra(I think). I wont be forgetting April 1 in a hurry.
