Flawed journalists

Journalists who write without proof-reading their columns for the right facts about sport tick me off easily.Whats even more irritating is when they back their opinions with wrong facts. I have respect only for a few indian columnists; Prem Panicker and Harsha Bhogle are my favorites(I’m talking only ‘cricket’ here). More than their knowledge, their passion for the game is imminent in their columns. The rest just dont know enough about the sport to write stuff thats worthwhile reading.

The latest case:

One Mr. Rahul Banerji who writes about India’s vulnerabilities against pace on espnstar.com.
Garbage..

http://www.espnstar.com/studio/studio_coldetail_1666807.html

I quote a section from his column.

Australia, the only other team to have toured India and returned with a series victory other than Pakistan in the last couple of decades, banked on the blitzing pace of Brett Lee last year when they won Test matches at Nagpur and Bangalore for a decisive lead in the series. In short, there is something to be said about the Woolmer theory, and England are uniquely equipped for the series that starts on March 1 at Nagpur.

I have nothing against the man’s opinion. He is entitled to one. The fact of the matter is Brett Lee never played in any of the test matches in that series. So all the cock about Brett Lee’s blitzing pace undoing India’s batting line up is a whole load of crap.
Its a different matter altogether that India lost and they lost to a quality full strength Australian team.(though i think if the Chennai test had not been rained off, it would have been 2-2)

And to think espnstar.com has a link to this article on their home page!!Maybe i should offer to proof read their columns.

rather long, but if you can appreciate a well written piece even if the topic is not of interest to you and have 25 mins read this(though it may take you shorter).
